PPT97: Canceling While Saving as PNG Leaves Invalid File (168415)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q168415 SYMPTOMS
If you click Cancel while attempting to save a PowerPoint 97 slide as
a Portable Network Graphic (.png) image file, PowerPoint creates a
.png file anyway. However, this file is not a valid Portable Network
Graphic file and you cannot import or open this graphic in any
program.
In contrast, if you click Cancel while attempting to save a PowerPoint
97 slide as a CompuServe Graphics Interchange Format (.gif) or Joint
Photographic Experts Group (.jpg) file, PowerPoint does not leave a
.gif or .jpg file on your drive.
CAUSERESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, run Windows Explorer and delete the resulting
.png file.
