Sounds Assigned to Keys in IntelliType Are Not Played (167716)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Keyboard tool in Control Panel to assign sounds to keystrokes, the keystroke sounds may not be played when you press the assigned keys.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Quarterdeck HiJaak Pro or HiJaak 95 Graphics Suite is installed on your computer. These programs may load a device driver named Runner that disables IntelliType keyboard sounds.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box.
  2. If Runner is listed, click Runner and then click End Task.
