Unable to View Version, Lag Time, or Local Time in Chat (167625)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Chat version 2.0 when you select a chat member in the Member pane and then click Version, Lag Time, or Local Time on the Member menu, you may not receive information about that member.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the host of the chat room has selected the No Whispers option.

RESOLUTION

If you are the host of the chat room, you can enable Whispers by clicking Room Properties on the Room menu, and then clicking the No Whispers check box to clear it.

MORE INFORMATION

The version, lag time, and local time information is sent as a Whisper so that only the chat member requesting the information can see it. When Whispers are not enabled in the chat room, you cannot obtain this information from another chat member.
