PI: Errors in Piutil.dll While Printing (166685)

SYMPTOMS

When printing from Microsoft Picture It! you may receive an error such as
exception 10H in piutil.dll

-or-

fatal exception error in piutil.dll
These errors have been reported with the Canon BJC-210 and the Canon BJC- 610 printers.

RESOLUTION

Change the printer driver by doing one of the following (in order of preference):

  • Install the latest printer driver available from your printer's manufacturer.
  • Remove and reinstall the current printer driver.
  • Install a compatible printer driver. For example: the Canon BJC-610 can use a BJC-600e driver and the Canon BJC-210 can use an IBM ProPrinter X24e driver. Both printers can also use the Epson LQ-2550 driver.

To Remove a Printer Driver

To remove a printer driver, do the following:

  1. If you plan to reinstall the deleted driver, make sure you have your Windows 95 CD-ROM or printer driver disk at hand.
  2. Click the Start button, point to Settings and then click Printers.
  3. Select the printer you wish to remove and click Delete.

To Install a Printer Driver

To install a printer driver, do the following:

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings and then click Printers.
  2. Double-click Add Printer.
  3. Follow the instructions in the Wizard.
