PRB: Database Diagram for SQL Server Database Doesn't Show Field (165890)

SYMPTOMS

Using the Database Tools in Visual InterDev, when you drag a SQL Server table onto the database diagram surface, you get a blank box showing no fields.

CAUSE

SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 2 was not installed on the machine that had the SQL Server database.

RESOLUTION

Installing SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 2 from the Visual InterDev CD-ROM fixes this problem. The server pack can launched from the CD-ROM at \VI1.0\SERVER\SQLSRVSP\SETUP.EXE.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior


  1. Create a Web project.
  2. Add a data connection to a SQL Server Database 6.5 (without SP2).
  3. Create a new database diagram.
  4. Drag a table onto the diagram.
