OL97: Outlook Does not Correctly Show All TAPI Devices (164247)

SYMPTOMS

If your computer has multiple Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) devices installed, Outlook 97 may not properly list each device. For example, Outlook may indicate that an ISDN modem is capable of voice communications but cannot handle data, or that your fax/modem is not present.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 97 version 8.02 for Windows.

Follow these steps to view connection lines from the Windows Phone Dialer:
  1. Click the Start button, point to Programs and then Accessories, and click Phone Dialer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Connect Using.
  3. You can see the available lines in the Lines list.
Follow these steps to view connection lines from within Outlook:
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Dial and click New Call.
  2. Click Dialing Options to see the available lines in the "Connect using line" list.
