PPT97: "Send to Microsoft Word" Causes GP Fault (163946)

When you attempt to use the "Send to Microsoft Word" feature in
PowerPoint 97, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details you receive the following information:
POWERPNT caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at
<address>
CAUSE
This error occurs if you have a 16-bit application running on your
computer at the time you attempt to use the "Send to Microsoft Word"
feature.
This problem does not occur when you are using the Windows NT 3.5 or
4.0 operating system instead of the Windows 95 operating system.
RESOLUTION
Before you send a presentation to Microsoft Word, close the 16-bit
application. If this does not resolve the problem, exit the 16-bit
application, restart your computer and PowerPoint, and then attempt
to send the presentation to Microsoft Word.
STATUS

here as it becomes available.
