This article was previously published under Q163468 SYMPTOMS
When you browse the Internet using Internet Explorer, the text may seem to
be missing on Web pages with white backgrounds.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you are using one of the High Contrast Black
color schemes in Windows. If this is the case, you do not see the text on
some Web pages with white backgrounds because Windows is changing the text
to white.
RESOLUTION
Change the Text and Background colors used in Internet Explorer. To do so,
follow these steps:
Internet Explorer 4.x and 5- In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the View menu
(on the Tools menu in Internet Explorer 5).
- On the General tab, click Colors.
- Click the Use Windows Colors check box to clear it.
- Select the Text and Background color you want, click OK, and then click
OK.
Internet Explorer 3.0- In Internet Explorer, click Options on the View menu.
- On the General tab, click the Use Windows Colors check box to clear it.
- Select the Text and Background colors you want, and then click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
When a Web page has the <bgcolor> (background color) Hypertext Markup
Language (HTML) tag set to white and does not specify a color for the
font, the font color defaults to white when you are using one of the High
Contrast Black color schemes.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
