SUMMARY

If you receive an error during setup or when you run Picture It! for the first time, and basic troubleshooting does not resolve the problem, try running Setup in Safe mode.

To run Setup in Safe mode, do the following.

  1. Run Picture It! Setup. If the installation maintenance program is offered, choose Remove All. If the installation program is offered, choose Exit Setup.
  2. On your hard drive, delete the \Microsoft Picture It! folder.
  3. Create a new folder called \atest.
  4. Copy everything from the Picture It! Compact Disc except the \Content folder to the test folder you just created. (This takes about 16 MB)
  5. Reboot in Safe mode by pressing F5 as your computer restarts.
  6. Run Setup.exe from the test folder you created.
  7. Reboot normally.
  8. Start Picture It!.
  9. Once you confirm that Picture It! is running OK, delete the test folder you created.
