Multilevel Number Format Changes If Document Inserted as File (162690)

When you use the File command on the Insert menu to insert a file, if the
inserted document contains a numbered list with a multilevel format, the
list will change to an outline number format. For example, a list formatted
with legal numbering may be changed to outline numbering.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the following steps after you insert the
document:
- In the destination document, select the multilevel numbered list.
- On the Format menu, click Bullets And Numbering.
- Click the Multilevel tab, select the desired numbering format, and then
click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in
Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
