This article was previously published under Q161785

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Edit Actuals command on the Task Properties Tracking tab to enter actual work for a person on a task, and if you select a date range that overlaps another date range or is before it, you may receive the following error message:
The work periods for actual dates must be entered in ascending order.

RESOLUTION

To enter actual work that is out of sequence, or to update actual work on days that already contain actual work, use the Actual Work view as follows:

  1. Click the Tasks tab, and from the view banner list, select Actual Work.
  2. Near the upper-right corner of the window, move the timescale slider to the leftmost position so format the timescale for weeks over days.
  3. For each task that the person works on, double-click the task folder icon in front of the task name to display the assignment rows.
  4. In the grid under the timescale, for each of the person's assignments, enter the correct actual work for the appropriate days.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
