Goosebumps: Sounds Skip and Repeat During Videos (158532)

SYMPTOMS

You experience choppy sound, skipped sounds, and/or some of the audio in the video sequences repeats.

CAUSE

This may occur for one of the following reasons:

  • Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements to run the program. For example, you do not meet system requirements if you have anything lower than a quad-speed (4x) CD-ROM drive on your computer. -or-

  • Your video card is configured for a 32-bit color palette. -or-

  • Your CD-ROM caching is configured incorrectly. -or-

  • Low hard disk space or too many programs running are creating a low memory situation.

RESOLUTION

Use the resolution appropriate for symptoms:

If your computer configuration is below the minimum requirements, you need to upgrade the computer to improve video playback.

Changing 32-bit Color Palette

Change the color palette to High Color (16-bit) or 256 colors. To change your display settings, do the following:
  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. In the Color Palette box, select High Color (16-bit) or 256 colors.
  5. Click OK. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.

Properly Configure CD-ROM Caching

To end CD-ROM caching problems, turn off CD-ROM caching or change its configuration. For more information about how to perform this task in Windows, see your Windows printed documentation or online Help.

Closing Other Programs

Close all other programs that are running on your computer. This frees up memory and makes it available for your multimedia program.

Free Up More Hard-Disk Space

Your hard-disk is used as virtual memory in addition to RAM memory.
