WD97: Changes to Inline Pictures Are Not Saved (157859)

Changes to Inline pictures are not saved when Fast Saves is enabled.
WORKAROUND
Changes to Inline pictures can be saved if the picture is converted to
"Float Over Text" or if "Fast Saves" is disabled. Use one of the following
methods to allow Word 97 to correctly save changes to Inline pictures.
Method 1: Convert the Inline Picture to Float Over Text
To convert the Inline Picture to Float Over Text, follow these steps:
- Right-click the picture.
- From the shortcut menu, point to Picture Object, and then click Convert.
- In the Convert dialog box, under Object Type, select Microsoft Word
Picture. Then, select the "Float over text" check box and click OK.
Method 2: Turn Off Fast Saves
To turn off Fast Saves, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Select the Save tab.
- Under Save options, clear the "Allow Fast Saves" check box, and then
click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the
beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 2000.
