The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q157653

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, when you copy a button from a worksheet to a MS Excel 5.0 Dialog, the font formatting from the button will copy and show in the dialog. However, when the dialog is run, the dialog uses a different font.

CAUSE

Font formatting on button controls are not supported in MS Excel 5.0 Dialogs. Objects created in an MS Excel 5.0 Dialog sheet only support using the Microsoft Excel default font. In Microsoft Excel version 5.0 this font was MS Sans Serif. In Microsoft Excel 97 the default font for dialogs is the Tahoma font.

For additional information on fonts in Microsoft Excel 97 dialogs, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

157553 OFF97: Dialog Boxes and UserForms use Tahoma Font

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
