TMGR: Unique ID Starts with 2 for First Person (155550)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Team Manager

This article was previously published under Q155550

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Team Manager assigns the number 2 as the Unique ID for the first person you add to a team file instead of the number 1.

CAUSE

The Unique ID number 1 is reserved for the unassigned person, "who" always exists and can never be deleted from a team file. Microsoft Team Manager allows you to assign an unidentified person labeled "unassigned work" to a task.

MORE INFORMATION

The following demonstrates the unique ID behavior for people:

  1. Start Microsoft Team Manager, and create a new team file.
  2. Click the People tab.
  3. Click the Add People button. In the Add People box, enter a name and click OK. You do not need to send the team member settings, so click No in the message that appears.
  4. On the Format menu, click Add/Remove Fields. (You must be in a view such as Profile Information.)
  5. In the Add/Remove box, select Unique ID and click Add. Click OK. Note that the first person has unique ID number 2.
