TMGR: Recurring From/To Defaults Use Constraints And Deadlines (155530)

If a non-recurring task has both constraint and deadline dates, then the From and To fields in the Recurring Task dialog box default to these dates. If the non-recurring task has only a constraint date, then both the From and To fields default to the constraint date. A deadline without a constraint date has no effect on the From and To defaults.

A non-recurring task can be given a starting constraint, a deadline, or both. The starting constraint can be "On or after" or "Exactly on." To display the constraint options, select the task and on the Edit menu, click Task Properties, and then click the General tab. To display the deadline option, click the Scheduling tab. Constraint dates and deadlines can only be set for non-recurring tasks.

The Scheduling tab also includes a Recurring Task button that brings up the Recurring Task dialog box, which is used to create a recurring task from a non-recurring task, or to edit an existing recurring task. The start and end of a recurring task are controlled by specifying a From date, and either a To date or the number of occurrences. If the selected task is not currently a recurring task, then the default From and To fields depend on whether the task has a constraint date or a deadline, or both.
