  1. Q. How do I change the registration name and company information?

    A. If you have the floppy disk version of Works, Works writes the user name and company information on Works Disk 1. To change the information, you must order a new set of disks.

    If you have the CD-ROM version of Works, you can change the registration information by removing Works and then reinstalling.

    To obtain information about new or updated Microsoft products, call the Microsoft Sales Information Center at (800) 426-9400.
  2. Q. Should I make backup copies of the Works disks before I install the program?

    A. There is no need to make copies of your Works disks. After Setup, store the disks in a safe place, away from moisture, dust, and magnetic fields. If a disk is damaged or misplaced, contact Microsoft or your computer reseller for a replacement.
  3. Q. How do I install Works on a network?

    A. The network installation instructions for Works 3.0x are included in the "Microsoft Works User's Guide," following the index. Note that the multimedia edition of Works 3.0x does not support network installations. This means you cannot run an administrative installation from the Works 3.0x Compact Disc.

    NOTE: Every Works user must have a Microsoft Works for Windows license. A license is obtained by buying a retail package or a Microsoft License Pack.     A. Follow these steps:
    1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Works for Windows, and then click Microsoft Works Setup.
    2. Click Remove All.
    3. When you are asked if you are sure you want to remove the program, click Yes.
  6. Q. How do I reinstall Works?

    A. Works provides a Maintenance Mode Setup option so you can add or remove components at a later date. To start maintenance mode Setup in Windows 95, do the following:

    2. Click Reinstall.
    NOTE: The Reinstall option replaces missing files and settings, but does not replace currently installed files. To replace all Works files with their original versions, first remove Works from the hard drive, and then reinstall the program.

    A. Depending on the type of installation, 4 to 14 megabytes (MB) of available disk space is required for Works 3.0x.
  8. Q. Why didn't Works Setup prompt me for all my disks?

    A. If you click Custom Installation in the Microsoft Works Setup dialog box, and then remove some of the components on the Options list, Setup may not ask for all the Works disks. This is normal; Setup skips the disks that contain components you've chosen to not install.
