The maximum file size for a Microsoft Publisher publication is 2 gigabytes (GB) (2,149,580,800 bytes). The file size of OLE objects do not count in this total, so if you link or embed objects to your publication, that publication could theoretically have a file size of greater than 2 GB.

Each Publisher publication can contain up to 65,536 separate objects. Publisher considers each of the following to count as one object:
  • One page
  • One story (one or more text frames linked together.)
  • One picture frame
  • One line
  • One OLE frame
Thus a one-page publication that contains three linked text frames, one picture frame, and one drawn line would contain four objects.
