Money: How to Disable Online Services (150744)

This article explains how to disable Online Services (Online Banking and/or Online Bill Payment) within your Money data file.

Use the steps outlined below for your version of Money. These steps assume that there are no active Automatic Payments (Apays) or pending Electronic Payments (Epays) in the Account that is going to be disabled and that you have contacted your bank or Online Services to cancel the service.

NOTE: If you currently have any Apays in your Money for Windows 95 Payment Calendar or Money 3.0 Future Transactions window, you will need to cancel them before proceeding. For detailed steps, please see the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Money 5.0 for Windows 95

  1. On the Go To menu, click Home Banking.
  2. On the Accounts tab, click the Select Online Services button.
  3. Click Next repeatedly until you are asked "Have you received your Online Services password and other access information".

    NOTE: If you see a Connect button, hold down the SHIFT key and click the Connect button.
  4. Click Next one more time.
  5. Click the Advanced button.
  6. To disable Online Bill Payment, select (None) from the Online Bill Payment list box.
  7. To disable Online Banking, select (None) from the Online Banking list box.
  8. Click OK or Next. Read the warning messages about disabling the services.
  9. Click Yes and the account's Online Services are now turned off.

Money 4.0 for Windows 95

  1. On the Go To menu, click Account Manager.
  2. Click the account you want to disable and click the Account Details button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Click the Select Online Services button.
  4. Clear the Banking and Online Bill Payment check boxes.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Depending upon the number of services you are turning off, Money asks at least once if you want to disable the service. Make sure you read the dialog boxes explaining the results of disabling Online Banking and/or Online Bill Payment.
  7. Click Yes. Your account's Online Services are now turned off.

Money 3.0

  1. On the Lists menu, click Account List.
  2. Click the account you want to disable, then click Money On-Line Services.
  3. Clear the Pay On-Line and Bank On-Line check boxes.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Money prompts you with at least one Confirmation dialog box. Be sure to read the dialog boxes explaining the results of turning off Online Banking and/or Online Bill Payment. Click Yes for each dialog box.

    NOTE: You may be prompted to send a letter to Online Services. If you have already canceled the service, click Yes.
  6. Your online accounts are disabled.
