SUMMARY

If you have used the Product Inventory template, you have noticed it only tracks inventory data for one year. Here's how to re-use the Product Inventory template for another year.

To use the data at the end of a year for the beginning of a new year in the Product Inventory template, do the following:
  1. Open your existing inventory database in Form view.
  2. Click Save As on the File menu, enter a new name for the file and Click OK. For example, if your current file is, 1995Inv.wdb, you could use 1996Inv.wdb as the new name.
  3. Click Protection on the Format menu. Clear the check boxes next to Protect Form and Protect Data and Click OK.
  4. Click List on the View menu.
  5. Press the END key to move to the last field in the database,(named Reorder No).
  6. Click on the field name above the field, InStock, to select it.
  7. Click Copy on the Edit menu.
  8. Press the HOME key to return to the first field in the database (named Item No).
  9. Click on the first record in Starting Qty.
  10. Click Paste on the Edit menu. This will paste the information copied in step 7.
  11. Select fields from Sold1 to Stocked12.
  12. Click Clear Field Entry on the Edit menu.
  13. Click Form on the View menu.
  14. Click Protection on the Form menu and reapply Protect Form and Protect Data by clicking on the check box to place a check in it, and then Click OK.
  15. Click Save on the File menu.
The new file, 1996Inv.wdb, is now ready to use for the next year.
