OFF95: Workstation "Remove All" Does Not Remove MS Access Link (147782)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office for Windows 95, Standard edition
This article was previously published under Q147782 SYMPTOMS
The Microsoft Access shortcut is left on the Programs menu after you run
Microsoft Office 95 Professional Setup and choose "Remove All" in
maintenance mode.
CAUSE
The section of code in the "Remove All" option of Microsoft Office 95
Professional that deletes the link files from the Windows Start menu is
unmodified from Office 95 Standard. Because Microsoft Office Standard does
not ship with Microsoft Access, there is no code in the Setup program for
removing the Microsoft Access link.
RESOLUTION
To remove the Microsoft Access link, follow these steps:
- In Windows Explorer, double-click the Windows folder.
- Double-click the Start Menu folder.
- Double-click the Programs folder.
- In the Programs folder, using the right mouse button, click the
Microsoft Access link file, and then click Delete on the menu that
appears.
The Programs menu on the Start menu should no longer display a Microsoft
Access menu item.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
