Mac Works: Text Not Centered in Word Processor (147562)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to center align text in a word processor document, some of the text is off-center or shifted to the right.

CAUSE

This can be caused by blank spaces or tabs preceding the text that you want to center.

RESOLUTION

To correctly center text, you need to remove these blank spaces or tabs. Use the instructions below for your version of Works.

Works 4.0

  1. Select the text that you want to center.
  2. On the Format menu, point to Alignment, and then click Left.
  3. Place the mouse pointer immediately in front of the text that you want to center.
  4. Press the DELETE key until all blank spaces or tabs immediately preceding the text are deleted.
  5. On the Format menu, point to Alignment, and then click Center.

Works 3.x

  1. Select the text that you want to center.
  2. On the Style menu, point to Alignment, and then click Left.
  3. Place the mouse pointer immediately in front of the text that you want to center.
  4. Press the DELETE key until all the blank spaces or tabs immediately preceding the text are deleted.
  5. On the Style menu, point to Alignment, and then click Center.

Works 2.x

  1. Select the text that you want to center.
  2. On the Format menu, point to Justification, and then click Left.
  3. Place the mouse pointer immediately in front of the text that you want to center.
  4. Press the DELETE key until all the blank spaces or tabs immediately preceding the text are deleted.
  5. On the Format menu, point to Justification, and click Center.
