Schedule+ Locks Schedule File on Server (147512)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Schedule+ for Windows 7.0
This article was previously published under Q147512 SYMPTOMS
When you try to synchronize a Schedule+ file, you may get the following
error message:
Your schedule may have only been partially synchronized. The
schedule is being used by someone else. Try again later.
Additionally, other users that also have the above schedule open will not
be able to add, modify, or delete any information from the schedule. They
will receive one of the following error messages:
The item cannot be inserted (deleted).
The item attribute cannot be changed.
The schedule is being used by someone else. Try again later.
CAUSE
There are two possible causes:
- One of the users using this file may be synchronizing with the server;
in which case, the situation is temporary.
- Someone may have the file unknowingly locked open. This can occur when
a user exits Schedule+ 7.0 when he or she has another user's
appointment book open and minimized. This "other" schedule will open
minimized the next time the user runs Schedule+. When this happens,
the program does not finish opening completely, the splash screen is
locked in the background, and the "other" person's schedule file on the
server is locked open.
RESOLUTION
In the first situation, the user receiving the error can repeat his last
action, and the change should now be accepted.
In the second situation listed above, it must be determined which user has
the "problem schedule" locked open. Once this user restores the minimized
schedule to a normal window, the splash screen will close, and the server
file will no longer be locked. Other users will now be able to modify the
schedule.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Schedule+ version
7.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
