PUB: Maintenance Mode Setup Doesn't Remove or Add Fonts (141649)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Publisher Maintenance Mode Setup to remove fonts that are installed by Publisher, the fonts won't actually be removed. Furthermore, if you then manually delete the fonts, Maintenance Mode Setup won't reinstall them.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

RESOLUTION

If you want to remove the fonts that ship with Publisher, you must do so manually. For more information on removing fonts from Windows 95, please see the following Help topic:

To delete a font from your computer

If you then decide you would like to restore those fonts, you can follow these steps:
  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Click Microsoft Publisher in the list of installed programs.
  3. Click Add/Remove.
  4. When the Publisher Maintenance Mode dialog box appears, click Reinstall.
  5. Provide whichever disks or CD-ROMs Setup asks for.
