How to convert files from earlier versions of Money to the latest version of Money
To convert files from earlier versions of Money into the latest
version of Money, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click
Open.
- In the Files of type box, click
All Money Files.
- Locate the file that you want to open, click the file that you want to open, and then click
Open.
Note When you upgrade, Money creates copies of your files with an .mn
x extension, where x is the version number. For
example, if you upgrade from Microsoft Money 2001, the ninth version of Money, the copy
of your file has the extension .mn9.
How to import to Money
To import to Money, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click
Import.
- Select the files that you want, and then click
Import.
- Select the Money account that is to receive the imported
data, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
- Money displays a message when the import is complete.
Note For information about how to export a QIF file from another
program, see the program's instructions. For information about how to import an
OFC file from a bank, contact your bank.
Important If you are using a version of Quicken that is earlier than Quicken 3.0
for Windows, you must export each of your Quicken accounts to a QIF file,
start Money, and then import the QIF files.
How to convert files from earlier versions of Money
When you use Money to open a data file that was created with an earlier
version of Money, the program automatically converts the file when you open it.
How to convert files from Quicken
In Microsoft Money 2003, you can convert data files from Quicken 2002 or
earlier. To do this, click
Convert Quicken File on the
File menu.
In Microsoft Money 2005, you can convert data files from Quicken 2004 or earlier. To do this, click
Convert Quicken Files on the
File menu.
In Microsoft Money 2004, you can convert data
files from Quicken 2003 or earlier. To do this, click
Convert Quicken
Files on the
File menu.
In Microsoft Money 2002, you can convert data
files from Quicken 2001 or earlier. To do this, click
Convert Quicken
File on the
File menu.
In Microsoft Money 2001, you
can convert data files from Quicken 2000 or earlier. To do this, click
Import on the
File menu.
How to convert .qif files from other programs
You can use Money to import a Quicken Interchange Format (.qif)
file from any personal finance package that can export a .qif file.
The following personal finance programs can export .qif files:
- Quicken for Windows
- Quicken for MS-DOS
- Quicken for MAC
- CA-Simply Money
- CheckFree for Windows
