SUMMARY

The only way to apply a Fancy First Letter to a paragraph is to select the paragraph and choose Fancy First Letter on the Format menu. Fancy First Letters are not saved as part of a style, nor can the formatting be copied using the Format Painter tool.

If you create a text frame or story that contains several paragraphs and apply a Fancy First Letter to the first paragraph only, you can apply the same style of Fancy First Letter to the other paragraphs by doing the following:
  1. Drag your cursor over some text in the first paragraph and continue until you have highlighted some of the text in each paragraph that you want to have the fancy first letter. You can press CTRL+A to select all the paragraphs in a story.
  2. On the Format menu, click Fancy First Letter.
  3. The style of Fancy First Letter that applies to the first paragraph will already be selected. Click OK to apply it to all the other paragraphs.
