PUB: Rotated Text w/Character Spacing Prints Incorrectly to IBM Proprinter (136910)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0
This article was previously published under Q136910 SYMPTOMS
If you adjust the character spacing in a rotated text frame, and then print
the publication to an IBM Proprinter or a compatible printer, the text
frame may print incorrectly. Specifically, you may notice the following
symptoms:
- Text may extend outside the frame.
- Line breaks may occur in the wrong place.
- Spacing between characters may be incorrect.
CAUSE
This problem does not happen with "normal" character spacing. It only
happens if you move characters closer together or spread them apart. The
more characters are adjusted, the more noticeable the effect.
RESOLUTION
If you are printing to an IBM Proprinter, and need a paragraph of rotated,
spaced out or squeezed together text, you can create the paragraph using
WordArt instead of a text frame.
If you don't have an IBM Proprinter (you are using the Proprinter emulation
and some other type of printer), you can find out what other emulation modes
your printer has and try using a printer driver for an alternative
emulation.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
