The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1a
- Microsoft Project for the Macintosh 4.0
This article was previously published under Q136027 SYMPTOMS
When you print a report or view it in print preview, and if the report is
based on the Crosstab report (for example, if it's a Crosstab report of
resource usage or perhaps Who Does What When), you may experience one of
following problems:
- Hundreds of extra pages are printed or are displayed in print preview.
-or-
- Information for Dates outside the project's date range is printed.
If you are using Microsoft Project version 4.0 or 4.1 for Windows, the
following error messages can also identify this issue:
Out of Memory
-or-
Disk is Full
-or-
Not enough memory to print
If you are using Microsoft Project version 4.0 for the Macintosh, the
following behavior may occur:
- The computer stops responding (it hangs)
- You receive the "An error of Type 25 has occurred" error message
CAUSE
If a crosstab-based report's column totals are printed to a page of their
own, and if more than one column of pages is printed, then Microsoft
Project attempts to print data through the year 2049. This behavior
generates hundreds of extra pages.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, ensure that the Column Totals are printed on
the same page as the tasks or the resources. To do this, you must make a
formatting change to in the Page Setup dialog box (the type of change will
vary from system to system). For example, if you reduce the top or bottom
margins, you may create enough free page area to print the column totals
along the bottom of the pages that have resource or task data.
To change the page margins:
- On the File Menu, click Page Setup.
- In the Margins section, decrease the top and bottom margins to a value
that is smaller than their current setting (for example, if the top
margin is currently set to .75 inches, reduce it to .5 inch).
- Click OK.
Other formatting changes you can make to fit more information onto the page
area include: turning off the column totals, changing gridlines, changing
font sizes, and so on.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed
at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and
will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
