Windows Disables Norton Desktop's Anti-Virus Program (135178)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows, Setup removes the anti-virus program installed by Norton Desktop for Windows 2.0 from the Config.sys file, and the anti- virus program no longer runs.

CAUSE

This anti-virus program is a terminate-and-stay-resident program (TSR) that requires exclusive disk access. Exclusive disk access is prohibited in Windows.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade to the latest version of Norton Desktop for Windows.

Setup disables (remarks out) the Nav&.sys line in the Config.sys file.
