Running Programs from an MS-DOS Prompt with LANtastic (135130)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98

This article was previously published under Q135130

SYMPTOMS

When you are using Windows with a LANtastic network, you may not be able to start Windows-based programs from an MS-DOS prompt.

CAUSE

LANtastic keeps individual drive mappings for each virtual machine (VM). When the current working directory is on a remote drive on the LANtastic network, you may not be able to start Windows-based programs from an MS- DOS prompt unless the current VM is the system VM.

RESOLUTION

If you have the same drive mappings in Windows Explorer as you do in the MS-DOS session, you can start Windows-based programs from any VM.
