SYMPTOMS

In Works, you cannot perform a print merge to more than one fax number in a given print merge process. That is, all merged documents are sent to the same fax number.

If you use a fax number field in a database to list the different fax numbers to which you want to send the print merge, Works is unable to fax form letters, labels, or envelopes to more than one of these fax numbers, even if the fax printer drivers are installed printers in the Control Panel of your computer.

CAUSE

Works can recognize only one fax number per print merge job. After you choose the Print command, Works sends the print job to the fax printer driver, just as Works interacts with any other printer driver. Works has no control over the print job from that point on. Instead of sending print codes to a printer, the fax driver asks for the fax phone number and sends the print job over a fax modem.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows can print merge documents to different fax numbers when the following conditions are true:

  • MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface) extensions are loaded in Windows.

    -and-

  • The fax printer driver is MAPI-compliant.
