SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, you cannot subscribe to information from the Gantt Chart in a consolidated project--even though you can create drawing objects in this view, and you can subscribe to information from the Objects box in the Task Form or Resource Form.

Additionally, the Create Publisher and the Stop Editions commands are unavailable (dimmed) in any view in a consolidated project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use any of the following methods.

Method 1

To subscribe to information in a consolidated project, display your project in the Task Form or the Resource Form, and select the Object box. You can then subscribe to an edition by choosing Publishing from the Edit menu, and then choosing Subscribe To.

Method 2

Create the publisher or subscribe to the edition before you consolidate your projects.

MORE INFORMATION

When you consolidate individual projects into a single window, you can view the information in the projects as if they were one project. When you display a consolidated project in the Gantt view, the Publishing command is unavailable (dimmed) on the Edit menu.

Additionally, if you apply the Task Form or Resource Form view to a consolidated project, and you select the Object box in the form, the Publishing command is available from the Edit menu, although the Subscribe To command is the only command available when you choose the Publishing command.
