SYMPTOMS

When you choose Number from the Format menu in a Works spreadsheet or database, the example in the Options section of the Number dialog box may display the incorrect date when the Date format is selected. For example, an invalid date such as 12/31/1899 may be displayed.

CAUSE

This occurs if the current date in the Windows Control Panel is set to a value later than June 3, 2079.

RESOLUTION

Change the date in the Date/Time section of Control Panel to the current date.

For more information about how to perform this task in Windows, see your Windows printed documentation or online Help.

MORE INFORMATION

Works does not treat dates beyond June 3, 2079 as dates. For example, if you enter 6/4/2079 into a Database field or Spreadsheet cell, Works interprets that entry as a text string, rather than a numeric value.
