SYMPTOMS

Self-referencing formulas in the Database module do not automatically recalculate when a record is deleted.

WORKAROUND

Method 1:

Save, close and reopen the file. Works will recalculate the formula.

Method 2:

Manually re-enter any entry in any field that is being referenced by the formula. To quickly re-enter data, press the F2 key and then press Enter.

STATUS

This problem has been fixed in Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a for Windows 95.

MORE INFORMATION

A self-referencing formula uses the name of the field in which it is entered. For example, the following formula entered in a database field named "Balance" would be self-referencing:
   =Balance-Check+Deposit
