MORE INFORMATION
The Registry Editor looks similar to SysEdit. The Registry windows
are labeled as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
This contains information about the local computer system, including
hardware and operating system data such as bus type, system memory,
device drivers, and startup control data.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
This contains OLE and file-class association data (equivalent to the
registry in Windows for MS-DOS).
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Contains the user profile for the user who is currently logged on,
including environment variables, personal program groups, desktop
settings, network connections, printers, and application preferences.
HKEY_USERS
Contains all actively loaded user profiles, including
HKEY_CURENT_USER, which always refers to a child of HKEY_USERS, and
the default profile.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers
Contains VIDC options, SndEvnts, Wave, and Timer drivers. It is
similar to the [drivers] section in the SYSTEM.INI file.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc
Shows installed drivers and the associated name. For example,
iccvid.dll:REG_SZ:Cinepak Codec by SuperMatch. It is similar to the
[drivers.desc] section in the CONTROL.INI file.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
Contains the 32-bit drivers associated with wavemapper, wave1 and
wave2, msacm.imaadpcm, .msadpcm, .msgsm610, and vidc. Similar to the
[drivers] section in the SYSTEM.INI file.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI
Contains the 16-bit sound drivers. Similar to [mci] section of the
SYSTEM.INI.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI
Extensions
Similar to the [mci extensions] section in the WIN.INI file.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI32
Contains 32-bit mci drivers. For example, CDAudio:REG_SZ:mcicda.dll.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Midimap
Contains the name of the MIDI Synth driver.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\
CurrentVersion\Userinstallable.drivers
Indicates which wave channel the sound card uses.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WOW
Options for 16-bit Windows applications running under Windows NT.
NOTE: These settings should be maintained only by the system.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Audio Compression
Manager\NewPriority
Contains driver priority settings from Sound Mapper.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\MCIAVI
Contains video playback options. For example, "Zoom by 2", and "Skip
Video Frames if Behind."
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\msacm.imaadpcm
Contains the encode and decode rates set in Control Panel, Drivers,
for IMA ADPCM.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\msacm.msgsm610
Contains the encode and decode rates set in Sound Mapper.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Sound Mapper
Contains the settings from the Sound Mapper Sound Device Preferences.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Sounds
Contains the Sound Events settings.
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-...\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Audio Compression
Manager \NewPriority
Contains driver priority settings from Sound Mapper.

0x4-- 22050 Hz mono / 11025 Hz stereo.
0x5-- 44100 Hz mono / 22050 Hz stereo.
0x6-- All rates.
NOTE: It is possible to manually adjust these values from the
Registry Editor.

Contains the setting from Sound Mapper. Valid settings for
MaxRTDecodeSetting and MaxRTEncodeSetting are:
0-- No rates.
0x1-- 8000 Hz mono.

0x3-- 22050 Hz mono.
0x4-- 44100 Hz mono.
0x5-- All rates.
