SYMPTOMS

After you install the WangDAT Model 3200 tape drive and start the Windows NT Backup program (NTBACKUP.EXE), the following error message may appear:
Tape drive has been detected but the driver has failed to load or is not started.
If you select Devices in Control Panel and try to start the 4 Millimeter DAT driver, the following error message may appear:

RESOLUTION

In order for the tape device to work correctly in Windows NT, dip switch 5 on Bank 1 of the tape device must be set to the Off position (disabled). This switch is reserved for the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the tape device and should only be enabled (On position) if specified by the OEM in the documentation.
