WordPerfect Documents with Borders Contain Extended Characters (114542)

SYMPTOMS

If a WordPerfect 5.x file that has bordered paragraphs is loaded into Works, you will get sequential numbers after each bordered paragraph.

CAUSE

The WordPerfect 5.x converters for Works write highly specific private fields to represent WordPerfect 5.x borders. These field results are numbers, and Works displays these field results as part of the text stream.

WORKAROUND

  1. Delete the numbers after each bordered paragraph.
  2. Highlight the paragraphs that need to be bordered.
  3. From the Format menu, choose Border.
  4. Select Outline and choose OK.
