Err Msg: "Too Many Tuples" from RESTENV (114088)

The Windows NT Advanced Server upgrade manager utility that restores the
environment (RESTENV) may generate the error message:
*** Error (102) ***
There are too many tuples in the ini data.
NOTE: A tuple is a set of related values in a database table (relation),
one for each attribute (column), stored as a row in a relational database
management system. It is the analog of a record in a nonrelational file.
CAUSE
LMUPMGR executes the command BACKENV c: /uif, and creates an output file
named LMBAKENV.DAT. When the environment on the LAN Manager server being
upgraded is very large, LMBAKENV.DAT can become longer than 1024 rows
(data rows--not section headings, blank rows or comments) and can't be
processed. Environments with large numbers of shared directories can
easily reach the maximum size.
The LMBAKENV.DAT file contains information from the LANMAN.INI file and
other environment information, including all persistent connections and
shared directories. There are four sections in the file for defining shared directories, [share], [share perm], [share passwords], and [share remarks]. Each section has one entry for each share directory.
WORKAROUND
Delete unneeded LMBAKENV.DAT rows to make the file shorter than 1024 rows.
Section headings, blank rows or comments do not count.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post
new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
