WD: Indent Formatting Removed After Only One Paragraph (113736)

When you format a paragraph to have a first line indent of any number
greater than 0 (zero), or if you change a style to have this formatting,
the first line formatting is not retained when you start a second
paragraph.
Similarly, if you set a left or right paragraph indent, Word retains the
indent formatting for one paragraph only; Word removes the indent
formatting for the next paragraph.
Also, if you format a paragraph with bullets and/or numbering with
hanging indents, the settings of the hanging indents will be lost when
you start a second paragraph.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if Help For WordPerfect Users is selected.
RESOLUTION
Turn off WordPerfect Help with one of the following methods.
Method 1:
- From the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select the General tab.
- Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.
Method 2:
- On the status bar, double-click the letters WPH.
- Choose the Options button.
- Clear the Help For WordPerfect Users check box.
Method 3: Word 6.x and 7.x: When installing Word, choose No to the prompt
to install help for users of WordPerfect.
MORE INFORMATION
The only formatting lost by selecting this WordPerfect option is
Paragraph/Indents (that is, left and right indents and special). Any other
formatting is retained correctly.
