The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
  • Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
  • Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0

This article was previously published under Q113613

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you use the Send Task Request command to send an electronic mail message to a resource assigned to your project, and you choose not to update the project file when you receive the reply from the resource, the following symptoms occur:

  • When the resource receives your second message, the message does not contain an Accept? column to either accept or reject the task request.

  • When you receive the second reply from the resource, the message does not contain the Accept? column with the response of the resource. Additionally, the message does not contain an Update Task button.

  • You no longer receive the message asking if you want to update the Microsoft Project file when you reply to the message.

WORKAROUND

To avoid losing the Accept? column and the Update Response button in a Task Request mail message, choose the Update Response button in the message each time you receive a response from a resource, or choose Yes when prompted to update the project.

If you have already lost the Accept? column and the Update Response button in a Task Request mail message, you must open the project and send the task request to the resource again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
