No Logon Validation from LAN Manager Client (113584)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server 3.1
This article was previously published under Q113584 SUMMARY
When you log on to a Windows NT domain from a LAN Manager Client for MS-
DOS, the following error message may appear:
You have been logged, but have not been validated by a server.
Therefore, you may not have permission to use some network resources.
If you issue a NET VIEW command, the message "There are no entries in list" appears even though a NET VIEW \\[machine name] command shows the server and NET USE allows the user to make a drive connection.
MORE INFORMATION
On MS-DOS LAN Manager workstations, logon requests are sent out ONLY on the first valid network--defined as a loaded and bound protocol driver with the lowest LANA number, which is not necessarily LANA 0. Therefore, in order to be validated during logon, a domain controller must be running the same protocol that you have loaded for the first valid network on your
workstation.
