SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you attach an object to task, the object appears at a greater distance from the task than the distance you specify. As you move the object farther from the task, the difference between specified and actual distance will become more apparent.

CAUSE

Microsoft Project uses logical inches to measure distance. A logical inch does not necessarily correspond exactly to a physical inch. The correspondence depends on the resolution of your video display; a physical inch may map to 1.25 or 1.5 logical inches on a high resolution video display.

You can verify the correspondence with your video display by measuring the ruler displayed in Microsoft Word for Windows, or in Microsoft Write.
