PRJ: ToolTips Covered Up Using Large Mouse Pointer (113462)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
  • Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1

This article was previously published under Q113462

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, you cannot view the button ToolTips if you are using a large mouse pointer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

A ToolTip is a word or short phrase that describes the function of the button. A ToolTip appears when you pause the mouse pointer over a toolbar button.

Certain mouse drivers, such as the Microsoft mouse driver version 9.0, allow you to change the size of the mouse pointer. If you change the size of the mouse pointer to Large, it covers up a portion of the ToolTip when you position the pointer over a button on the toolbar in Microsoft Project.

NOTE: This behavior does not occur in Microsoft Excel version 5.0 or Microsoft Word for Windows version 6.0.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

(These steps assume you are using the Microsoft mouse driver version 9.0)

  1. Run Windows Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Mouse icon. Under Size, select Large, and choose OK. Close the Control Panel.
  3. Start Microsoft Project. Position the mouse pointer over a button on the Standard toobar.
Note that a ToolTip appears, but the mouse pointer is covering up a large portion of the information.
