SYMPTOMS

In the Gantt Chart view, if the timescale is set to display nonworking time for a resource, and you then edit the name of the resource, the format and duration of the timescale may be changed as well.

CAUSE

When you edit the resource name, the timescale in the Gantt Chart reverts to the Standard calendar.

NOTE: This problem does not occur if you show working time for the resource in the Calendar view, and you change the name of that resource.

WORKAROUND

After you have changed the name of the resource, select Timescale from the Format menu, select the Nonworking Time table, and choose the resource name from the Calendar list.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. In a new project, choose Resource Sheet from the View menu. In the Resource Name column, type Resource1.
  2. From the View menu, choose Gantt Chart.
  3. From the Format menu, choose Timescale, and select the Nonworking Time tab. In the Calendar box, select Resource1, and then choose OK.
  4. From the Tools menu, choose Change Working Time.
  5. In the For box, select Resource1. Select the second week of the month, and, under Make Date(s), select the Nonworking option. Choose OK. Scroll through the Gantt Chart so that the nonworking week is displayed.
  6. From the Window menu, choose New Window. From the View list, select Resource Sheet, and then choose OK.
  7. From the Window menu, choose Arrange All.
  8. In the Resource Sheet, change the name of the resource from Resource1 to Resource2.
  9. Activate the window with the Gantt Chart in it.
Note that the week of nonworking time goes away. If you choose Timescale from the Format menu, note that Calendar box on the Nonworking tab is reset to Standard.
