SUMMARY

In WordArt 2.0, the Inflate (Bottom) and Deflate (Bottom) effects cause the top edge of the text to arch slightly.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create a WordArt frame.
  2. Type "EEEEEE" (without the quotation marks).
  3. Choose the Inflate (Bottom) effect from the effects drop down list found on the left end of the WordArt Menu Bar.
The bottom of the text should bulge downward, and the top edge of the text should remain straight. However, the bottom of the text bulges downward and the top arches slightly.

NOTE: Deflate (Bottom) has a similar effect and will arch the bottom edge of the text upward while the top edge will arch slightly.

The larger the WordArt frame, the more noticeable the undesired effect. Similarly, having the Stretch To Frame option selected will exaggerate the problem.

There is no solution or workaround at this time.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
