AV in Rasman.exe After Many Simultaneous Connections (104236)

SYMPTOMS

When you have multiple Remote Access Service (RAS) connections running simultaneously from your Windows NT 4.0 RAS client, you may receive the following error:
Rasman.exe: Access violation 0xc00005 address 0x7789887a

CAUSE

Information on the stack is being overwritten while manipulating the value System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Transient\Nameserver in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
