Preparing to Install a Storage Tray
Using two people remove the new tray from the shipping container.
From the front of the cabinet, remove the appropriate number of filler panels to accommodate the new tray.
Attaching the Rail Kit to a Cabinet
Depending on the type of Sun cabinet you have, use one of the following procedures to attach the rails.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the four rail adjusting screws to allow adjustment of the left rail length.
Position the front of the left rail behind the left front cabinet rail.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert and tighten two 8-32 screws to secure the left rail to the front of the cabinet. These screws pass through the cabinet rail holes and screw into threaded holes in the left rail.
From the rear of the cabinet, adjust the length of the left rail as needed to fit the cabinet, and position the rail flange over the face of the cabinet rail.
Align the rail flange so that the mounting holes align to those at the front of the cabinet.
Depending on the type of cabinet you have, do one of the following:
a) For a Sun Rack 900 or Sun Rack 1000 cabinet, use a #3 Phillips screwdriver to insert and tighten four metric M6 screws (two per side) at the rear of the rail.
b) For cabinets with 10-32 cabinet rail threads, use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to insert and tighten four 10-32 screws (two per side) at the rear of the rail.
c) For other cabinets, use self-supplied screws to secure the right rail to the cabinet rail.
Repeat steps 1 through 6 for the right rail.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the eight adjusting screws (four on each side) toward the rear of each rail.
Make sure all screws are tight.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the four rail adjusting screws to allow adjustment of the left rail length.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert two 10-32 screws in the front and rear inner mounting holes for the left rail. Do not tighten the screws.
Place the two elongated holes on the rail over the front and rear screws that were installed in the previous step. Make sure that the rail slides down to the top of the elongated holes.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert two 10-32 screws in the lower side mounting holes of the left rail directly below the elongated holes. The holes correspond to the center hole of the middle U of the 3RU slot in which the rails are installed.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, insert and tighten two 8-32 screws to secure the left rail to the front of the cabinet. These screws pass through the cabinet rail holes and screw into threaded holes in the front of the rail.
Repeat steps trough 1 through 5 for the right rail.
Make sure all screws are tight.

Setting the Link Rate For Each Tray
Locate the link rate switch at the lower right front of the tray.
To set the link rate switch to the correct setting for your configuration, do one of the following:
a) To set the default link rate for the tray to 4 Gbits/second, slide the switch to the left position.
b) To set the default link rate for the tray to 2 Gbits/second, slide the switch to the right position.
Powering Up the New Configuration
For the new controller tray that was added, make sure that the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server has been set up with the corresponding MAC address for the controller cards or I/O modules before turning on the power. If a DHCP server is not available, the controller tray defaults to internal static IP addresses.
Make sure the power-fan switches are in the Off position for all trays.
Connect the power cables from each tray power-fan assembly to a different power strip in the cabinet.
Make sure that the cabinet circuit breakers are in the Off position as well.
Connect the power cables from the cabinet to the external power source.
Press the cabinet circuit breakers to the On position.
Press the power-fan switches at the rear of each tray to the On position.
While the tray powers up, the green and amber LEDs on the front and rear of the tray(s) turn on and off intermittently. Depending on your configuration, it can take several minutes for the tray(s) to power up.
After the LEDs have stopped blinking, verify that all of the green LEDs are On and that all amber LEDs are Off.
Checking the Link Rate For Each Port
Check the link rate LEDs for the host and the expansion ports located at the rear of the controller tray and the expansion tray.
Updating the Inventory
Disable the reserve CRM/CEM function.

The new controller tray will need to be discovered to update the inventory.
b) At the Discovery window, enter the IP address of the new array module into the "IP List" input box.
c) Select the "Start Discovery" button to execute the discovery.
After the Discovery has completed the Agent will need to be run.
b) At the Agent Summary window, select the box under the Add Agent column for the appropriate host that the new tray is attached to.
c) Select the "Run Agent" button to execute the Agent.
After the Agent has executed, the Device Details (array module) will need to be checked to confirm the State is "Enabled" and the Status is "OK" for all of the FRUs.
b) At the Devices window, select the appropriate name of the new array module from under the Name column.
c) At the Device Details window, select the FRUs link at the left top of the screen or scroll down to the FRUs section.
d) From the left column under FRUs, select each FRU type to verify that the State is "Enabled" and the Status is "OK".
