Adding an External Modem
This procedure details the installation for the use of a customer supplied modem instead of the internal modem of the 6920.
Before starting this service action enable the reserve cabinet(s) function. This may not be possible depending on the state of the service processor accessory tray.

b) Enter a description of the service action (i.e. 6020 service).
c) Select the estimated amount of time of the service action from the pull-down.
d) Select the Reserve Cabinet(s) button.
e) Other users will be alerted that this service action is in progress when they log in.
f) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnect the RJ-45 cable (530-3205-01) from the DB-9/RJ-45 Adaptor (530-3205-01) on the MIC card (in slot 6) serial port of the DSP-1000. Leave the other end of the cable connected to the 'AUX' port of the SPA tray.

Connect the removed end of the RJ-45 cable (530-3205-01) to the 'AUX' port of the inside of the Service Processor Panel. The cable that is already plugged in the port will need to be unplugged.

Connect the external modem to the 'AUX' port of the Service Processor Panel.
The NTC port 4 (Aux) is configured for a baud rate of 19200 and must be changed to the same baud rate as the external modem to communicate.
Establish a serial connection to the NTC.
a) tip -9600 /dev/ttya or /dev/ttyb
b) login: rss
c) password: sun1rss
Use the following command to set the baud rate from the ntc0: prompt.
a) ntc0: set port_4 speed 9600
Note: The port speed of 9600 is used only as an example.
Logout of the NTC.
a) ntc0: logout
Disconnect from the tip session.
a) ntc0: ~. (may require a carriage return first)
Disable the reserve cabinet(s) function.

b) Select the Release Cabinet(s) button.
c) Close the pop-up screen.
