Removing an Expansion Cabinet
Note: Have the customer remove or backup all data from the cabinet(s) and associated arrays being removed, and ensure all I/O to those arrays has been stopped.
Before starting this service action enable the reserve cabinet(s) function.
a)
b) Enter a description of the service action (i.e. removing an expansion cabinet).
c) Select the estimated amount of time of the service action from the pull-down.
d) Select the Reserve Cabinet(s) button.
e) Other users will be alerted that this service action is in progress when they log in.
f) Close the pop-up screen.
Observe all
a) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnecting the AC power cables from the cabinet.
From the rear of the cabinet being removed, set all of the tray power and cooling unit switches to the Off position and allow drives to spin down properly.
Note: If removing two expansion cabinets, power down the second expansion cabinet before powering down the first expansion cabinet.
From the front of the cabinet, unscrew the four screws holding the key switch panel in place to provide access to the power sequencer.
Verify that the Local/Remote switch on the power sequencer is in the Remote position and turn the key switch to the Off position.
Push the circuit breaker "up" to the Off position on both the front and rear power sequencers.
The Power Available and the two Switched Outlet green LEDs should now be Off.
Note: The tray power and cooling fans will now shut down.
Disconnect the AC power cables from the grounded outlet.
Pull the AC power cables back through the cable hole.
For both the front and rear power sequencer, disengage the latch to release the AC power cable from the connector and then disconnect it from the power sequencer. Place the cables with the cabinet being removed.

Hold the key switch panel to the cabinet frame and tighten the four screws to secure it back to the cabinet.
If removing another expansion cabinet, repeat steps 1 through 9.
Disconnecting all other cables from the cabinet.
If the first expansion cabinet is being removed, disconnect the two MTP Cables 537-1060-01 from the data path FC connections between the master rack and the first expansion rack.
Before proceeding to steps 3 and 4 view the following cable illustration.

b) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnect the cable from "EXP A" port of the expansion cabinet patch panel and from the "EXP1 A FC1" port of the master cabinet first I/O panel.
Disconnect the second cable from the "EXP B" port of the expansion cabinet patch panel and from the "EXP1 A FC2" port of the master cabinet first I/O panel.
If a second expansion cabinet is being removed, disconnect the two MTP cables 537-1060-01 from the data path FC connections between the master cabinet and the second expansion cabinet.
Before proceeding to steps 7 and 8 view the following cable illustration.
a) View the data path FC connections
b) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnect the first cable from the "EXP A" port of the expansion cabinet. patch panel and from "EXP2 B FC1" port of the master cabinet second I/O panel.
Disconnect the second cable from the "EXP B" port of the expansion cabinet patch panel and from "EXP2 B FC2" port of the master cabinet second I/O panel.
Disconnect the two ethernet 530-3138-01 cables for the control path Ethernet connections from the master cabinet and the first and second expansion cabinets.
If you are removing the first expansion cabinet, then disconnect the ethernet cable from the "ENET" port of the expansion cabinet I/O panel and from "EXP ENET1" port of the main cabinet first I/O panel.

b) Close the pop-up screen.
If you are removing a second expansion cabinet, then disconnect the ethernet cable from the "ENET" port of the expansion cabinet I/O panel and from "EXP ENET2" port of the main cabinet first I/O panel.

If remote lights out power management was added to the first expansion cabinet, disconnect the two DB-9 Male-to-Female serial cables 530-3210-01 from the master cabinet and the first expansion cabinet.
Before proceeding to steps 14 and 15 view the following cable illustration.
a) View the lights out power management connections
b) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnect the first serial cable from the "Power Sequencer Out Front" port of the main cabinet service panel and from the "Power Sequencer In Front" port of the expansion cabinet patch panel.
Disconnect the second serial cable from the "Power Sequencer Out Rear" port of the main cabinet service panel and from the "Power Sequencer In Rear" port of the expansion cabinet patch panel.
If a second expansion cabinet is being removed, disconnect the two DB-9 Male-to-Female serial cables 530-3210-01 from the first expansion cabinet and the second expansion cabinet.
Before proceeding to steps 18 and 19 view the following cable illustration.
a) View the lights out power management connections
b) Close the pop-up screen.
Disconnect the first serial cable from the "Power Sequencer Out Front" port of the first expansion cabinet patch panel and from the "Power Sequencer In Front" port of the second expansion cabinet patch panel.
Disconnect the second serial cable from the "Power Sequencer Out Rear" port of the first expansion cabinet patch panel and from the "Power Sequencer In Rear" port of the second expansion cabinet patch panel.
If the first expansion cabinet is being removed, disconnect the
MTP to SC cable from the master cabinet, which
is connected to "EXP1 A FC1" port on the
If the second expansion cabinet is being removed, disconnect the
MTP to SC cable from the master cabinet, which
is connected to "EXP2 B FC1" port on the
If you are removing the first expansion cabinet, then repeat step 20 for the "EXP1 A FC2" MTP to SC cable in the master cabinet.
If you are removing a second expansion cabinet, then repeat step 21 for the "EXP2 B FC2" MTP to SC cable in the master cabinet.
Removing the cabinet and arrays from the configuration.
A new inventory will need to be created for the removed cabinet:
a) From the Inventory Maintenance screen, select the Generate New Inventory button at the bottom of the screen.
b) After the Generate New Inventory has completed, select the Save New Inventory button at the bottom of the screen.
c) Close the pop-up screen.
A new Topology Snapshot will need to be created for the removed cabinet:
a) Select the Create Topology button from the left side of the page.
b) After the new topology snapshot has been successfully created, close the pop-up screen.
Verify that the cabinet has been removed from the topology:
a) Close the pop-up screen.
Disable the reserve cabinet(s) function.
