Using the NonStop Cluster Monitor

The Cluster Monitor is a graphical user interface (GUI) which depicts the state of the NonStop(tm) Clusters for SCO UnixWare(tm) 7 system.

The interface is an Unix X11 based GUI, which is executable from the clustering folder of the UnixWare SCOadmin system management subsystem. A system administrator can use this interface to easily identify cluster degradation for a number of cluster subsystems. Due to the redundancy provided by NonStop(tm) Clusters for SCO UnixWare(tm) 7, such degradations may not directly affect system operations, but the underlying latent faults must be corrected prior to a second failure.

The following NonStop Clusters for SCO UnixWare(tm) 7 subsystems are displayed using the Cluster Monitor:

· Compaq Insight Management Agent state:

The summarized state of the Compaq Insight Management agents executing on each node. Direct access is provided to the Web-Enabled agents to provide additional information.

· Cross-Node Mirroring/Cluster Integrity

The state of mirroring is displayed allowing customers to avoid inadvertent cluster outages.

The cluster integrity(CI) cable state allows customers to verify the proper operation of the CI heartbeat, thus avoiding possible outages upon the eventual node failure.

· Cluster Interconnect

The state of both primary and redundant interconnect fabrics is displayed allowing customers to verify full redundancy is available.

· Network Interface Adapters

The summary state of all network interface adapters is displayed

· Node states:

Important cluster information is provided such as identifying root and CVIP nodes, as well as node membership states.

· Performance

Interconnect, Disk, Processor, and IO performance characteristics are available to aid in performance tuning and debugging.

The NonStop Cluster Monitor is delivered as part of the nsctools package of the NonStop(tm) Clusters Compaq Insight Management Agents and Tools.

For further information see the online help available selecting the help menu item while executing the NonStop Cluster Monitor.
