Adaptec Names Carl J. Conti to Board



Milpitas, Calif, - November 21, 1995 - Adaptec Inc.(NASDAQ:ADPT) has

elected former IBM executive Carl J. Conti, 58, to its board of directors.

Since retiring from IBM in 1991, Mr. Conti has been engaged in consulting

activities with a variety of companies and investment firms.



Mr. Conti's career at IBM spanned 32 years. At the time of his retirement,

he was IBM senior vice president and general manager of IBM Enterprise

Systems. That position capped a long and distinguished series of executive

positions at the organization, including group executive for the

Information Systems and Storage Group, president of the Data Systems

Division, and vice president of the General Technology Division in

Endicott, N.Y. He began his career with IBM in 1959 as an engineer in the

company's Poughkeepsie, N.Y. laboratory.



Mr. Conti, who resides in South Salem, N.Y., holds a bachelors degree in

physics from the Case Institute of Technology. He serves on the advisory

board of that institution and on the board of trustees at Case Western

Reserve University. He is also a member of the corporate advisory committee

of Scenic Hudson, Inc.
